Horoscopes and the zodiac are very intriguing concepts, for sure. There are a lot of people in the world who rely on what they believe their astrological sign will bring to them in their career, love life, friendships, and other everyday parts of life. I’ve heard of people who broke off relationships because they found that their ex’s sign was incompatible with their own, were not compatible, and that I say, what were you thinking?
Horoscopes should not be taken seriously. We don’t have to rely on these signs and planets we align with to decide whom we should date, whom we should be friends with, and where we should live. The same goes for career paths and hobbies. If we are to rely on these for every decision we make, then no one would have any happiness. We would be stuck with partners we align with in terms of our signs, but never in actual love. It feels like we are being put into boxes and categories that we don’t have to be a part of. Not every Capricorn will become a college professor, and not every Libra is destined to be a criminal.
I will admit that my zodiac sign is Leo, a fire sign, and my ruling planet is the sun. I’ve done some research and found that Leos like myself commonly get along with fellow fire signs Aries and Sagittarius, as well as air signs Gemini, Libra, and to a lesser extent, Aquarius, since they are on opposite sides of the zodiac circle. Most people I have great relationships with, such as my family and friends, do not have any of these signs. The people I am the closest to in terms of family are Scorpios, which are the natural enemy of my symbol, though we do have occasional spats now and then. My mother was a Taurus, which isn’t compatible with us Leos, but there was nothing but love. My dad is a Virgo, and I still have a close bond with him.
These signs also categorize us into qualities that we can say about almost every human in our lives. Loyal, confident, intelligent, creative, and passion- ate are ways that we can describe ourselves no matter what sign we are. A lot of general qualities that most of us master even if we are not the sign or sign(s) it closely aligns with. The websites and blogs that we search up on these interests to gain knowledge are not the most reliable either.
If I were researching anything about my zodiac or horoscope, I would do it for fun rather than for big decisions. It’s a symbol of my life that doesn’t dictate my decisions. It’s just a fun way to learn about a person. There are qualities that I feel like I have that are common with Leos, such as kindness, but I think of myself as more than my sign or my planet, and so should all of us.
