With Halloween approaching, surely your costumes are planned and your pumpkins are carved. If you still feel like you are missing out on some essential Halloween vibes, luckily, there are plenty of spooky, sweet, and social campus events you can attend. Here are some you can look forward to:
Spreading Kindness and Candy: The Random Acts of Kindness Club is spreading kindness through something we all love and enjoy: candy. Stop by the Science and Technology Center (STC) from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Oct. 24 to grab your favorite candy and write an encouraging message for other students to see. In a holiday that focuses on horror movies and haunted houses, this is a perfect event to focus on the happy parts of Halloween.
Haunted House: The Haunted House is coming back to Saunders House on Oct. 29. Put on by Campus Activities Board, WLAS Lasell College Radio, and Student Government Association, the event will last from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.. All the perks of a haunted house without having to leave campus or pay to be scared. You do have to sign a waiver, so be prepared to be so scared you end up on the floor.
Lasell Flea Market: On Saturday, Oct. 29, POLISHED will be hosting the first annual flea market on campus. The event will be from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. in de Witt Hall and will feature several vendors that will be selling jewelry, clothing, and more. Some vendors will be School of Fashion students with their own garments for sale! If the thrill of thrifting isn’t enough to convince attendees, there will also be music playing and candy apples available throughout the afternoon.
Empty Bowls Festive Fall Glazing Night: If you don’t feel like going out to carve a pumpkin, the Empty Bowls Club is giving you the chance to paint a bowl instead. If you go to Arnow Campus Center on Oct. 25 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., you can channel all of your Halloween creativity into glazing a bowl to be sold at the club’s annual spring fundraiser. Plus, you can enjoy apple cider, candy, and hot chocolate in the process.
Halloween Dance: On Sunday, Oct. 30, the Class of 2025 is putting on a spooky-themed dance for all students. Attendees are expected to come in full gruesome garb and boogie down from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. in de Witt Hall. There will be a five-dollar admission fee at the door, however, admission is free for those who RSVP through Laser Involvement beforehand. Doors will be open for the first hour from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Free treats will be available for those that attend.
Pumpkin Patch: Unaffiliated with campus, but just a stone's throw down the road is the annual pumpkin patch at the United Parish of Auburndale. The array of gourds can be found near the end of Woodland Rd, just past the Arnow Quad— a mere quarter mile from campus. The patch opened up on Oct. 9 and will continue to be open to the public through Oct. 31. It is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
