On March 2, the Campus Activities Board (CAB) put on a Roller Rave in DeWitt Hall. The event was put on with the help of Neon Entertainment, providing the roller skates for students to use.

“We went to NACA (National Association for Campus Activities) this past year, and the company, Neon Entertainment, was there, and they gave us their booklet of all the stuff that we could do, and I saw it, and I was like, I want to roller skate, so let’s do it.” says Jenna Sargent, sophomore entertainment media major, and vice president of Tunes Tournaments and Trips for the Campus Activities Board.

Overall the event was a great place for the student body to do something different on campus.

Campus Activities Board vice president of the marketing committee junior Mandy Brochhausen says “I think the Roller Rave went extremely well. At first, there were some nerves about attendance and De Witt’s size, but by the end we had a little over 100 students that came to skate.”

“Honestly, it went better than I thought it would, especially with the rain. I thought that a lot of people weren’t going to show up. I think if it didn’t rain, we would have gotten more people, but the turnout was pretty good, and the setup was very easy” Sargent said.

The planning for the event started in January and contracts were signed in mid-February. “I wanted to make sure that I could do it with the spring concert and everything around, so then I didn’t lock it in until pretty late,” Sargent said.

“Jenna took the lead on everything, and she did not disappoint! Everyone had a great time and we hope to do something like this again.” Brochhausen said.

As the school year wraps up, CAB will have a few collaborations with other clubs and has a few more events that they are putting on including another bingo event, a new event which is a “White Lies” party with DJ Preshant will be held on the second floor of Arnow. The spring concert will be put on in DeWitt hall which is during spring week which is April 16-20. CAB is planning to release more information on the theme and events within the next couple of weeks.
